Apologies if I've posted this before..

I'm seeking suggestions for films, on DVD & books to pass the time while I dialyse.
I just treated myself to a portable DVD player, so a good film can pass at least 90 mins of time :) Books as well, I devour books if they catch my taste..:)

This post will be added as a memory.. so I can keep a list:)

Films will probably be library, & books, well I can look for authors:)
Comments appreciated muchly!

If you like a book with a good twist .. I've gotten into Sydney Sheldon. The Stars Fell Down and Morning, Noon & Night are good. I'm not a huge reader as you know, but I love his books.

Film-wise, well I'm not totally sure my taste is really yours ;-)

What's your taste in films and books?

For Example, I would recommend "Raise The Red Lantern" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101640/ )as perhaps the best film I've ever seen; the story and acting is excellent, but the cinematography is breathtaking. However, it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. Same goes for "The Remains of The Day" (both the book and film are exquisite). At the other end of the scale, mindless action-flicks like "DEBs" is pointless, but fun, as is DOA.

I also really liked "Election", and a few of the Michael Moore's are interesting (Bowling for Columbine, etc...although he is insufferable!)

Books. Well, I've just started reading some Christopher Brookmyre. A Big Boy Did It And Ran Away, was pretty good; a real page turner, about the epic struggle between Geek and Evil. Set in modern day Scotland, very funny...funnier than you'd imagine for something about terrorism and assassins!

If you're looking for laugh-out-loud funny, I'd recommend the Stephanie Plum Series, by Janet Evanovich. I think she's up to about book 11 no, so if you like them, you've got a lot to go through! :D

Kazuo Ishiguru is my favourite author (he wrote "The Remains of The Day"), and has a knack for writing really unusual, intriguing stories. Never Let Me Go is very good - well, all of them are, apart fromm(imo)a monster of a book called "The Unconsoled".

If you like, I'll bang you some links when I'm not at work. Or you can just go through IMDB and Amazon yourself.

Of course, I might be able to think of more appropriate ones if you have a specific taste.

Hope this helped a bit!
