Book Meme.. (why is it called a meme???)
Been tagged byfayet16 to do a book meme! Now folks .... this is gonna be interesting considering I can never remember names of books I've read and, although I have many books, I hardly read! lol

1) Total number of books I've owned?
Loads... What a daft question.

2) The last book I bought?
Hmmmm... probably a text book on Horticulture or something.. I buy less books these days, and tend to borrow from the library a lot.
The last book I ordered of Amazon was for mum.

3) The last book I read?

The Kite Runner by http://www.khaledhosseini.com/

4) Five books that mean a lot to me:
Now here's the tricky one! To be honest I don't really have 5 books that mean loads to me. So, instead, I think I'll put down my 5 fave books :) (always like to be different).

Tove Jansson - Finn Family Moomintroll

If you never read the Moomins as a kid your deprived. Magic and still readable and so much a part of me. The FAR outrate the animated versions

Dark Toys and Consumer Goods ~ Laurence Staig

A Collection of short stories. Aimed at younger readers (which I was at the time) these are dark tales of modern technology and consumerism.

Spares - Michael Marshall Smith
I'm old enough now to be grown up about things. This is a 'edge' fiction based loosely on a possible world mebbe 10 - 20 years from now.. As a kidney patient its meaningful to me. How far do you think the depts of human deprivation can reach.. This far?

Principles of Horticulture. Johnson (new editions the old one has been re-edited/published)
NOT QUITE A TEXTBOOK this is a highly readable book WELL written that covers many aspects of Horticulture & gardening in a very approachable & digestable style..
One of my first 'text' books and one I've treasured ever since.

OK Now its getting tricky..

Number 4 I think I will put Roald Dahl's TWO books 'BOY' & GOING SOLO. These are 'semi-autobiographical' and certainly I am a big fan of his writing style. These and his collected short Adult stories are some of the first books for 'older' readers I read.

5) Tag five people and have them fill this out in their LJs:

I don't KNOW 5 people :(

"Dark Toys and Consumer Goods" is a good book;I have a copy knocking around somewhere; the Moomins are great (& so much better than the cartoon) Mum introduced me to them at an early age; her having lived in Sweden had lots of effects on early life (not least of which was my name!)
Tried reading Spares (on your recommendation) but couldn't get into it. Roald Dahl is always good.
I don't know if I can name just 5 books - can I do 10? :p
